The Right Direction for East Stroudsburg - Respect, Responsibility and Service!
What is character education?
Martin Luther King Jr. said "Intelligence plus character... That is the goal of true education." Character education seeks to have students perform positive actions repeatedly-until it becomes relatively unnatural for them to do the opposite. Character education seeks to change the culture of the school to one of caring, respect and optimism.
What are the components of a school character education program?
Character education programs consist of school wide activities, classroom activities, curriculum integration and community outreach.
What are "words of the month"?
Each month the components of character education revolve around a selected character trait. The traits are the same throughout the district and reflect the main tenets of respect, responsibility and service. The words are changed each year to build a vocabulary of character words.
