Plot

The main events of a story, organized from beginning to end.

Conflict:  At the beginning, the problem that needs to be solved.
     Between two people
     Within one person's head
     Between one person and nature

Rising Action:  The excitement builds, problem being struggled with.

Climax:  Most exciting part of the story. The problem is solved here.

Outcome/Resolution:  The end of the story.  Unanswered questions are answers here.  Story starts to calm down.


Process

These are the steps, in order, describing how to do something.  Look for clue words, such as first, next, last.  When you write the steps of a process, you must be clear and specific.  Diagrams and other graphic sources can also help.
