STI Research Agenda
Day 1 - Intro to project, Share STI model flyer
- Introduce project to students
- Teacher pulls model up on the projector
- Students
- Log into Moodle and go to the Health & PhysEd page to enroll
- Under Site Home > Go to JTL > Specialists > Bedell/Ludka Health & PhysEd
- Enter the enrollment key provided by teacher
- Under STI Research box, click to view the STI Flyer Model
- Teacher explains project requirements with student
- Rubric shared
Day 2 - Research; study guide to fill out
- Students receive STI Digital Project Notes Sheet
- Teacher reviews research requirements
- Students utilize computers/Chromebooks/iPads to research
- Students use the websites within the Research resources folder to research their topic
- Finish all research and turn in by the end of today's class. If you do not complete it during class, you must finish and get it to me before the next class.
Day 3 - Construct rough draft of flyer
- Students must design on paper what they want their flyer to look like.
- Where will the title go?
- Pictures?
- Information?
- Share with a peer to discuss and make sure all criteria is included
Day 4 - Register for Lucidpress, select template, insert 2 appropriate, copyright free photos
- Students follow the link to either signup for LucidPress if they haven't used LucidPress yet and signin with the Google button (scroll to bottom)
- Or if a student has already used LucidPress this year, they may click the link to go directly to the website and signin with the Google button
- Once in LucidPress, students should choose a Flyer template similar to their handwritten sample
- Click the Documents+ or downward arrow button at top to see the templates
- Choose a template that is similar and click Open
- To begin their project, students should rename (File>Rename) the Untitled Document with their name, period # & odd/even. For example, Bedell P3e
- Next students should search and find 2 appropriate, copyright free images and insert into LucidPress document

- Take image to fullest size and then from that window drag up to the LucidPress tab and drop in flyer.
- If students complete, they should move on to the next day's assignment
Day 5 - Type research into flyer
- Students login intoLucidPress and open the previous day's assignment from their My Documents folder on the left.
- Next, students can begin typing their researched information into the text box of the flyer.
- If a student typed up their research in Google Docs, they can open the document and then copy and paste the information over to LucidPress.
- Students should continue typing in research until the content is complete.
Day 6 - Download flyer as PDF and complete personal reflection activity
- Once students have finalized their flyer with text and images, they (or a partner) should proofread the flyer for spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure.
- Next, the student should go to the upper left menu and choose to DOWNLOAD the flyer as a PDF. Doing this will ensure that everything on the flyer gets locked into place and no one can make further changes.
- Finally, students will go to Moodle and click on the STI Project Submission and follow its directions for uploading their flyer.
Day 7 - Complete peer research chart and project completion survey.
- Once the students have uploaded their flyer and written and submitted their discussion assignment response, they will then use the provided Showcase Chart to review the work of their peers on a wide variety of STI research.
- Lastly, students will complete the STI Project evaluation to provide feedback to their teacher(s) on the entire process of the project.and chart, and completion survey.
