We will be getting to know each other.

I want to know my students, their favorites, families, etc.

I will gradually introduce our schedule.  We'll start the first week with fun projects to get to know each other.

We will review some basic skills from 1st grade:  beginning, ending sounds, story maps (character, setting, problem, solution), adding, subtracting, etc.  along with District assessments to have your child appropriately placed for reading groups, math, and I/E (intervention/enrichment).

In our Reading class, we will be using an anthology (collection of stories).  The tests are very different then what your child is used to, therefore  the first couple will be done together as a guided experience.  I will show students how to look for key words in the questions and go back into the story to find the answer.  This is called "finding text evidence".
