October Happenings:
Homeroom Reading: We are finishing Unit 1 which focused on these reading skills: visualizing, predict, setting, character, events, and author purpose.
Phonics skills: short vowel sounds, blends
Grammar skills: Complete sentences (subjects, predicates), 4 types of sentences (statements, questions, commands, and exclamations) end of sentence punctuation.
My reading group continues with the above skills and also: writing: word choice in writing and sight words.
Math: addition facts, doubles, greater than & less than, place value tens and ones, putting numbers in order least to greatest (and greatest to least), 10 more/10 less, odd and even numbers, given clues find a secret number.
My Intervention group is working on Junior Great Books. We listen to authentic literature, learn new vocabulary, and have discussions about questions that could be answered several ways. This program helps develop critical thinking skills
