Homework Information and Policy
Homework Information
Homework will be assigned daily, Monday through Thursday. Assignments may be review, reinforcement, or an extension of what we are learning about in class. Generally homework should not take more than 30 minutes. A typical night of homework may be a math worksheet, spelling worksheet, math fact practice, and 15 minutes of reading a book to you or reading a book independently. Please let me know if your child is struggling to complete the assignments. If for some reason your child cannot complete the homework, please send in a note. If a note is not received your child will make up incomplete homework at recess time. If your child forgets to bring their homework folder home, you can try reaching me at school or by email. I usually stay after school or I may be able to email you the assignment. However, this is not a guarantee! They are responsible for remembering to bring their homework home each night.
Homework Folders
Every child has a homework folder and homework assignment booklet is provided for them. All homework assignments, district and school notices, and important communications will be put in the folder and sent home daily. Please take the time to look through the folder and sign the homework booklet each evening. Also put any notes for the teacher, office, nurse, or cafeteria the folder. Any money that is sent in throughout the year for lunch, school store, book fairs, etc. must be put in a sealed envelope with the child’s name and my name on the front. If it is lunch money, it is helpful for them to include their lunch pin # if they know it. Homework should also be placed in the folder when it is finished. I check each child’s folder every morning when they arrive.
Homework Policy
If homework is not complete, students will need to stay inside at recess to work on it. Once they are finished, they can go outside for the remainder of recess time. A pink recess slip will be sent home with the student for parents to sign and return.
