  • Write for a variety of reasons, using narrative, descriptive, persuasive, and expository forms.

Quality of Writing

  • Write a well-developed, organized piece using content and style, which is appropriate to the topic.

  • Use revising and editing skills to improve mechanics, grammar, and spelling.

  • Present and/or defend handwritten work for publication.

  • Listen carefully and critically to oral reading, discussions, and spoken messages.

  • Identify words from other languages that are commonly used English words.

  • Identify variations in the dialogue of literary characters and relate them to differences in occupation, geographic location, or changes over time.

  • Locate information using appropriate sources to research a selected topic.

  • Organize and present the main ideas from sources.
