Sequence

This is the order that events happen in a story.  Look for key words, such as first, next, last.  When you retell or summarize a story or passage, sequence is very important, or the plot won't make sense.

Setting

This is where the story takes place. Setting also includes the time or era when a story takes place.

Example: New York City, 1935 is a setting. Mars is a setting.
